The untold story about lawyer Ousman Sillah narrated by his Daughter - Amie Sillah
Amie Sillah , the daughter of Lawyer Ousman Sillah explaining the shooting of her father and how he survived it.
What would you do if your father survived an extrajudicial killing? I sat down with Amie, daughter of Ousman Sillah , who lived through this harrowing experience. Her father was a dedicated and successful Gambian, serving as a captain of the Gambia National Squad, an ADC to President Jawara, and a lawyer. Yet on December 26, 2003, Ousman was shot in front of his home and survived by playing dead. In this powerful conversation, Amie shares her father's incredible story and the emotional weight of this life-changing event.
Growing up without her father took a heavy toll on Amie and her family. They faced financial struggles, emotional hardships, and constant intimidation by government agents. Amie opens up about how her father's survival impacted their lives, including the change in his personality after the incident. We also discuss the challenges that come with finding a place in society as survivors of such a brutal attack.
As we explore the search for justice and accountability, Amie shares the ongoing emotional burden her family carries due to her father's extrajudicial killing. We discuss the importance of telling stories like hers to bring attention to this devastating issue and advocate for change. Join us in this heartfelt conversation as Amie champions for a collective responsibility to ensure that such tragedies never happen again
